Darlena Decker-Geyer was elected to the position of Town Clerk in November of 2011. Her term began in January of 2012.

Town Clerk Duties
The Town Clerk’s Office is usually referred to as the HUB of local government. A vast majority of Town business passes through this office for such things as filing, certification, retention, notarization or transmittal, to name a few. The variety of duties & responsibilities are contained mainly in Town Law §30.
State and Federal mandates are an important part of the duties performed. Responsible for certification or documentation of action taken by the Town Board for legal purposes such as filing, court cases, etc. Oaths of Office must be filed in the Town Clerk’s Office.
The Town Clerk's Office updates and makes available to public:
Zoning Ordinance and map, Subdivision Regulations, Municipal Code, and Industrial Appraisal.
Attends Town Board Meetings and Town Board Work Sessions and prepares minutes of the meetings which must contain all official actions taken by the Town Board.
Certifies and files all Local Laws with the New York State Department of State. A Local Law Book is retained as required by law.
BIDS: Publishes Bid Notices, distributes bid packets to bidders, conducts bid opening, prepares minutes of the bid opening, retains bid bonds, submits to Town Board for bid award, notifies successful bidder, files necessary documentation.
Retains file of Performance Bonds and Inspection fees on deposit with the Town for Subdivisions, Gravel Banks, Street Openings and Driveway Permits.
Issuing Agent for many NYS Agencies including Dept. of Health, Dept. of Environmental Conservation, Agriculture & Markets, Racing & Wagering Board and Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
Prepares department budget, provides monthly financial reports to State / County and Town.
Most importantly the Town Clerk’s Office strives to serve the residents of the Town of Blooming Grove in an efficient, helpful and professional manner.
